Thanks for the tip on the Crane cousins’ book. It kind of blew my mind.Those guys were fat bike riders on skinny tires!

I’ll try to return the favor by offering a recommendation. Not sure if you’re into old timey cycling books, but I’m a fan of F. W. Bockett’s Some Literary Landmarks for Pilgrims on Wheels (1901). Yes! Thanks for the reading list!

I’ve been on a mission to put together a list of books by female bike adventurers. Looking forward to checking out Jill Homer. Any other suggestions?

So far, my personal favorite is Full Tilt: Ireland to India with a Bicycle, by Dervla Murphy. She also named her bicycle Rosinante (or Roz). I’m wondering if she inspired Bernard Magnouloux!

  It’s been many years since I’ve read the Dervla book. Yes, a classic that I should revisit! Jill’s writing is great, you’ll enjoy it (and find her blog, if you haven’t come across it, at http://arcticglass.blogspot.com/).
  
  Other books by women that inspire me (you probably know both): Anne Mustoe’s _Bike Ride: 12000 Miles Around the World_ and Barbara Savage’s _Miles from Nowhere_.

    That list project sounds like fun, Ginger. If I may add my two bits, I’d also recommend Josie Dew’s The Wind in My Wheels. And if you want to go way back, the original female bike adventurer/writer was Elizabeth Robins Pennell in the 1880s. She traveled with her illustrator husband, but Elizabeth did most of the writing. Try A Canterbury Pilgrimage from 1884.
